Une nuit a Paris

Our first outing in Paris was at night and what an incredible way to see the city.  Paris by night is so magical and my pictures don’t even give it a fraction of the justice it deserves.  It was, in a word… enchanting.  The city is completely lit up, including a sparkling light show at the Tour Eiffel every hour.  It’s truly breathtaking!

I’m not sure what it is about  Paris that makes me want to be Owen Wilson in Midnight in Paris, skipping through time to the 20’s and 30’s to clink glasses with Fitzgerald and Hemingway.   Whatever it is, I want more of it.  And if you haven’t seen the movie, drop everything, RIGHT.NOW. and go watch it!! There is some sort of magic that occurs in Paris as night takes over day.  It seeps deep down into your soul and makes you sigh with ecstasy.  Its like your soul says, YES, this is EXACTLY how life should be.

No word of a lie,  I was humming Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose as I walked along the Seine.  I even whipped out my cell phone to Silvia’s embarrassment to play the Louis Armstrong version.  I was dj’ing our walk , as only I could do …  and honestly, it was perfect.   And let me tell you I have had that song permanently on repeat in my head for about 3 weeks now and I’m still not tired of it. Paris907Paris893

and in case you need a little music to go along with your reading… you can listen to both versions of the song, here and here.   ” hold me close, and hold me fast, the magic spell you cast, this is la vie en rose.  when you kiss me heaven sighs, and tho I close my eyes I see la vie en rose”
